How the November Window Works at the 2026 Nations Championship

The Northern Hemisphere Series

In July, teams from the Northern Hemisphere, England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, France and Italy toured the Southern Hemisphere and played three matches each in the Nations Championship’s first phase, but in November, the roles are reversed.

This time, the Southern sides, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Argentina, Japan and Fiji, will fly north to play a series of three fixtures each between the 6th and 21st of November, the results of which will determine the final pool phase standings.

The total amount of points earned across the July and November windows will be tallied at the end, with the teams then ranked in positions 1 to 6 in their respective hemispheres (Northern & Southern).

Nations Championship Finals

Shortly after that initial league phase concludes, the tournament’s climax, Finals Weekend, comes into focus. Kicking off on Friday, November 27th, Finals Weekend pairs the teams off against each other, with the 3rd best southern side playing the 3rd best northern side, and so on, until the Grand Final (1st vs 1st) caps the action on Sunday, November 29th.

Finals Weekend isn't just about the Grand Final, however. Every game also feeds into the Hemisphere Challenge. Seven points are available across the weekend, with a point awarded to the winner of each tie. The first hemisphere to four points is crowned the winning hemisphere.
